A month ago i migrate Windows 8.1 from old HDD to SSD. Everything is ok, and bang. OS wont start.
That is a list of what I was doing and how resolved problem.
1. Perform an automatic startup repair
1) Boot from the Windows 10, 8 or 7 USB or DVD bootable media.
2) Click Repair your computer.
3) Click Advanced Options.
4) Click Troubleshoot.
5) Click Startup repair.
6) Follow the onscreen instruction.
I tried with Windows 8.1 USB, Windows 10 USB, boot-repair-disk-64bit USB, Windows 8.1 CD, Windows 10 CD and boot-repair-disk-64bit CD. Nothing worked.
2. Perform a startup repair using command:
1) Boot from the Windows 10, 8 or 7 USB or DVD bootable media.
2) Click Repair your computer.
3) Click Advanced Options.
4) Click Troubleshoot and then Command Prompt.
5) Call these commands:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
6) The command fails? Try another suggested commands:
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
I tried with Windows 8.1 USB, Windows 10 USB, Windows 8.1 CD and Windows 10 CD. Nothing worked.
3. I lost hope. I use SATA adapter to copy all files to another PC(Windows 10) from SSD before install OS. And then Windows 10 show prompt „Scan and Fix”.
I think why not. I press „Scan and Fix”. I put SSD back to PC. And what? OS is started normaly.
It turned out that Windows 10 also has a good power side.
